Festival of New American Music | Campaign

Objective
Design a campaign for the Festival of the New American music held annually on the Sacramento State campus. The festival brings 9 days of free music to the campus for students and the community. This campaign includes a 16x20 poster, 6x9 postcard, 11x17 folded schedule, and digital signage to be seen at Sacramento State and Highway 50.

Solution
My main focus in the design of this campaign was to engage the audience in each and every piece. I wanted each piece to be unique enough that the viewer did not feel like they were seeing the same design over and over while having enough recognizability to know that each piece belongs to the same festival. With the designs, I aimed to engage the audience with the illustrations first and let them find their way to the information. I was inspired by the string instruments that many of the musicians in the festival play. I used the line and circles elements to represent this, and then I broke it with information of the events. I chose colors that were bright, welcoming and esteemed. I chose a sans-serif typeface for the flexibility and readability over the variety of pieces as well as its friendliness.
